Follow the silver dune crests
Look along the ridges as you walk. A bright edge gives way to a dark slope; the next dune reveals another shape. There is time to stop and look around, with the Moon above the same sand you explored by day.
Pause beneath an open sky
Let the group settle for a moment. Listen to the quiet, follow the horizon and notice how far the moonlight reaches. The walk gives you time to enjoy the landscape before turning your attention to the Moon itself.
Discover another landscape
At the telescope, the light that guided the walk becomes a place to explore. Your guide helps you find your bearings on the lunar surface, then draws your attention to a few details worth a longer look.
Crater rims and dark plains
Look for broad dark plains, then follow the brighter ground around them. Your guide helps you pick out crater rims and compare their shapes. What looked like a smooth disc from the dunes becomes a landscape you can explore one feature at a time.
Read the changing light
The Moon’s phase shapes what stands out. Around full Moon, look for dark plains and bright rays across the surface. Step back from the eyepiece and find the Moon again above the dunes, now with a few familiar places in mind.
